Magic Weapons
Note: You can now find the magic items in this article as a part of 50 New Magic Items, a Pay What You Want product on the DMs Guild.
I’m continuing today’s update of Exploration Age magic items with weapons. Last time I revealed some of Exploration Age’s wondrous items. Unlike the previous post all of the items below are entirely new to you. Please check them out, leave any feedback in the comments below, and very soon I’ll put all the magic items I’ve created for Exploration Age in a PDF available for download in the Free Game Resources section of this site.
You may notice that I’ve tried to give a few of the less popular weapons some love. There are tons of swords out there already! Let the net get some magic!
If you like what you’re reading, please check out my podcasts on The Tome Show, follow me on Twitter, tell your friends and share this blog post, and/or leave me a comment and let me know you think. Thanks!

Iron Net: where does it reform if broken? On the spot it was broken?
Horseman’s Pike: can you change it to lance? Pikes were crazy long and would not be used mounted.
Healer’s crossbow: how would 5E rules work out if the damage from the initial bolt brought the target to 0 or lower, before the healing was applied?
I love bellringer and the dagger of banishing 🙂

Nice! This is great feedback. I’ll definitely incorporate it into the PDF! Thanks, Michael!

“Boomeraxe” feels like it should fall into the same category as lightsaber nunchucks… cool in concept, but less practical in application. Still, I like the mechanic for it.

It is definitely one of the more comic book style weapons. Still, I love it!

On the boomeraxe, I also wondered (since it does the return line on the following turn) if targets can just get out of the way before it flies back. And/or, can someone potentially grab it at the far end of the line (either to stop it, or to ride it back at the initial thrower)?

They can definitely get out of the way before it comes back. As far as grab it, I’d rule they can try, but they risk hurting themselves since they aren’t attuned.

I have a question about the boomeraxe, James. So, you can only physically throw it three times per day? Or it will only return to your hand three times per day? Because it seems weird that I can’t throw it whenever I want. Is it glued on to your hand the rest of the time?
“Argh! I can’t put this thing down!”
How am I going to maintain good table manners, write a sonnet, or use my TV remote? NOTE TO ALL: DO NOT USE A BOOMERAXE.

You can throw it as many times as you like. You can only use that magic line ability three times per day. I’ll clarify in the pdf!

Pretty interesting weapons, but the Scimitar of Speed also appears on p. 199 of the DMG. WotC beat you to the name.
