I sit down with Dave Gibson, , Enrique Bertran, and Chris Dudley to discuss some optional d20 Modern mods for fifth edition Dungeons and Dragons as well as a Chris Perkins confirmed update to the Forgotten Realms. Then it’s an interview Wolfgang Baur of Kobold Press and Steven Helt of the Four Horsemen about their currently live Kickstarter for the Advanced Races Compendium for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. We’re stress-testing high-level combat in the new edition of Dungeons and Dragons once again and this time we’re taking on the most powerful villain the game currently has to offer – Tiamat! Her statistics were recently revealed in the Rise of Tiamat adventure from Kobold Press.

Remember the Tarrasque Takedown? Well the goodness continues as Mike Shea DMs Joe Lastowski, Chris Dudley, Topher Kohan, Liz Theis, and me in a battle for the ages! I’m expecting this guy to crash the party.

On THIS Sunday, October 19th at 7:30PM Eastern, it’s time to save the multiverse! Joe Lastowski, Chris Dudley, Topher Kohan, and I are back to take some more abuse from the world’s greatest DM, Mike Shea, to see how high-level play shakes out in the new edition of D&D. It’s level 20 characters going toe-to-toe with some of D&D’s most legendary baddies! Currently mid-fight with a death tyrant and it’s zombie beholder minions, there’s no telling who else might show up. A demilich? An ancient red dragon? A tarrasque redux?! Anything can happen. Join us as we sacrifice four PCs to the elder gods to find out just what high-level combat is like in 5e. This will be released as a youtube video and podcast on The Tome Show’s website at a later date if you can’t be there live.

Thanks to everyone who checked out the The Tome Show Presents The Round Table’s Tarrasque Takedown 2014: Mike Shea Out for Blood. I apologize for technical difficulties which had us start a few minutes late, but it was a blast! We didn’t get to finish our battles, since one of the things we learned about high-level combat is that it takes a while. There will be a continuation and for those who missed it, there’s a YouTube video below and it will be released as a podcast on The Tome Show’s website eventually.

We did get our butts kicked by the Tarrasque, but discussing it over email with the other players, had we made some different moves, we probably would have been victorious. I’m guessing most parties who have played together for 20 levels will find the Tarrasque a challenge, but not wholly unbeatable.

Anyway, The Tome Show Presents The Round Table’s Tarrasque Takedown 2014 Part II: Joe Lastowski, Christopher Dudley, Topher Kohan, and James Introcaso Out For Revenge: The Second One promises beholders and possibly demiliches and red dragons! More on that when we have more details!

Do you want to fight the Tarrasque?

I definitely do and I’m gonna.

On next Monday’s Round Table podcast features Mike Shea, Topher Kohan, Joe Lastowski, Chris Dudley, and me talking about the Tarrasque preview tweeted out by Morrus of EN World (among other topics). During this podcast we realized that we don’t really know how high-level play works out in the brand spanking new fifth edition of Dungeons and Dragons, so we decided to do something about it.

On Sunday, September 21st at 7:30PM Eastern, Mike will run Topher, Joe, Chris, and me through a series of ridiculous high-level encounters. We’re going to live broadcast it on Google+ Hangouts and on YouTube, so check out those links if you want to watch. We’ve got Facebook and Google+ events set up as well. If you’re not around to watch us try to kick some major monster but, you can watch later on YouTube or look forward to the release of the audio in podcast format on The Tome Show’s website.

I promise we’ll be entertaining as we run through our first high-level fifth edition session together. Mike has promised to spill plenty of PC blood as we fight our way through epic beasts culminating in a battle with the Tarrasque itself!
