I made a rough version of the dragon patron last month. Even though the tarrasque lost, it was a close call, so the killer kaiju is also going to get some love in this post.
The Tarrasque
You have made a pact with the tarrasque, the most dreaded monster of the Material Plane. Though many claim this engine of destruction has no more than animal intellect, you know better. The same magic that created the titan’s legendary hunger for destruction also makes it capable of connecting with special individuals. Perhaps you were the lone survivor of a settlement that suffered the tarrasque’s terrible wrath. Maybe you touched the monster and lived to tell the tale. It could be that you saw the tarrasque in a dream, where it communicated that you were chosen by it. Whatever the story, you now share a special connection to the tarrasque that enhances you own power.
As a warlock of the tarrasque, you share the monster’s appetite for destruction. While you might be more controlled in your desires, you thrive in desperate, chaotic situations. Destruction itself might be a beautiful thing to you, or you might enjoy the act because you know its a way to wipe a slate clean and allow for new creations, idea, and life to thrive. For you there is no such thing as an impossible situation, since you can always create an exit or opening when there is none.
Expanded Spell List
The Tarrasque lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you.
Tarrasque Expanded Spells
Spell Level | Spells |
1st | inflict wounds, thunderwave |
2nd | barkskin, enlarge/reduce |
3rd | fireball, protection from energy |
4th | giant insect, stoneskin |
5th | Bigby’s hand, destructive wave |
Ridiculous Growth
Starting at 1st level, you become the maximum height and weight allowed by your race. Your cannot change your weight through nonmagical means like diet and exercise.
Reflective Skin
Starting at 1st level, you skin gains a reddish, scaly sheen that can protect you from certain spells. When you are targeted by a magic missile spell, a line spell, or a spell that requires a ranged attack roll, roll a d6. On a 1 to 4, the spell works as it normally does with you as the target. On a 5, you are unaffected. On a 6, you are unaffected, and the effect is reflected back at the caster as though it originated from you, turning the caster into the target.
Object Demolition
Starting at 6th level, attacks you make and spells you cast deal double damage to objects and structures.
In addition, as an action you touch a nonmagical object that is no larger than a 10-foot cube and destroy it. You cannot destroy an object this way again until you complete a short or long rest.
Deal Pain, Feel None
Starting at 10th level, once per round when you deal damage to a creature, you gain resistance to any damage dealt by that creature’s attacks until the start of your next turn.
Appetite for Destruction
Starting at 14th level, your teeth become razor sharp and you can magically unhinge your jaw. As a bonus action, you can make a bite attack. Your bite counts as an attack with a magical weapon with which you are proficient, and you can use your Charisma modifier, instead of Strength or Dexterity, for the attack and damage rolls.
If you hit with your bite, you deal piercing damage equal to 1d10 + your Charisma modifier, and if the target is your size or smaller, it is grappled by you. Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained, and you can’t bite another target.
A creature grappled by your bite can use its action to try to escape. To do so, it must succeed on a Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) check against your warlock spell save DC.
You can make a bite attack against a target are grappling with your bite. If the attack hits, you can swallow the target, and the grapple ends. The swallowed target is blinded and restrained, it has total cover against attacks and other effects outside you, and it takes 21 (6d6) acid damage at the start of each of your turns. You can have only one target swallowed at a time.
If you take 20 damage or more on a single turn from a creature inside you, you must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw at the end of that turn or regurgitate the swallowed creature, which fall prone in a space within 5 feet of you. You can also choose to regurgitate a swallowed creature as a bonus action. If you die or become unconscious, a swallowed creature is no longer restrained by you and can escape from your body using 5 feet of movement, exiting prone.
Feedback
I’m definitely looking for feedback here, so let it rip in the comments. Thank you to those who do! Once I get the subclass core features in a good place, I’ll start creating invocations and a familiar to go along with the tarrasque patron!
